About the Grid Number:
The Grid Number consists of five numerals, followed by a single letter, and then another five numerals. All 11 digits make up the Grid Number. In the photo above, the entire Grid Number is 59052N45639.
The pole will have the Grid Number posted on the pole. Most have now been modernized to the bright yellow version shown in the photo. Other pole types and older poles have the numbers on the pole in other tagging, but the tag is there somewhere. The numbers are distinct to the pole location based on a state coordinate grid map. They are generally facing the street side of the pole. There may be other numbers and letters on the pole but they are not needed.
